Hello and welcome to The Crafty Colon!

My name is Leah Churchley and I started this site to share my experiences with Crohn’s disease and to post little tidbits of the art and crafts I’m currently working on!

I was diagnosed in December of 2016 with Crohn’s disease and unfortunately had to have a Ilecolic resection in June 2017. My Crohn’s hit me hard and fast and really turned my entire life upside dow, I went from a 40 hour plus workweek as a web developer to working part time at home and having to take IV drugs every 8 weeks for the next 10 years or so of my life. A pretty large life adjustment, but I’m thankful for every pain-free day and for my family and friends always being there for me when I need them.

Since being diagnosed I have seen that my case is nowhere near as extreme as what some with this disease go through. It can cause immense suffering and heartache and I wanted to make a small difference. In addition to starting this site, I’ve also opened an Etsy shop where I will sell my various art pieces and donate a portion of the sales to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada to support their Make it stop. For Life. campaign which supports research and other programs to help support those suffering from this devastating disease.

P.S. I want to make a special thank you to my dear friend Mandy Switzer who designed The Crafty Colon logo for me! Please check out her website so you can check out her amazing art!
